Most Biblical Open Theists believe God knows all that could - TopicsExpress

Most Biblical Open Theists believe God knows all that could happen, but not what course of events will happen (generally). It seems to me this has God’s attributes controlling Him. I suggest God has the ability to ponder every possible action but does not. And why would He? Ability does not equal necessity. God is not arbitrary. He does not do things without a good and sufficient reason for doing so. What reason would God have to imagine all the possible sin that ‘could’ happen”? Does He not suffer enough at what does happen? Do we think He needs or wants to imagine even more? I think this would give more clarity to the phrase “it never even entered my mind”. Of course it never did. It seems to me that all philosophies and theologies are one or another form of determinism. All but MGT. The clear distinction is that there is nothing ‘behind’ the will of man to cause him to do good or to sin. I suggest there is nothing behind God’s will either to make Him think or imagine anything He does not want to. God can plan and anticipate things when He wants to do so. Also- It is safe to say that He tells us to do the things He does- Judge rightly, forgive, be patient, overcome evil with good. That is what He does. He also tell us this- Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
