Most common misconceptions among PESCI candidates 1) PESCI is an examination and it is similar to the AMC clinical 2) Since I have an overseas experience/qualification in family medicine I should not have problem 3) Since I have never been a GP so it is going to be hard for me 4) It is an interview designed especially to screen out IMGs 5) Mastering PESCI recalls is among the most important component for preparation 6) Since I have not been to Australia or have not worked in any developed country as a GP, it is almost impossible for me to get through 7) Since I have taken it for couple of times AHPRA may not approve my registration 8) I have recently passed AMC clinical in first attempt, PESCI will be a piece of cake for me 9) I have been trying to pass clinical how will they pass me in PESCI? 10) Since I do not have a serious study partner or I live in a country town, I cant have quality preparation/couching 11) Privacy and confidentiality are interchangeable terms 12) I do have overseas experience in GP and its OK to get it assessed by RACGP later 13) Face to face or a workshop on PESCI are essential for quality preparation 14) Scenario cloning is a bigger concern in Clinical exam and it has nothing to do with PESCI 15) Emergency cases means urgent referral and DRABCD is a must to mention 16) Five domains of general practice are too theoretical 17) A feedback on PESCI is just a formality and it is not worth discussing with a friend/ expert 18) It is better to avoid medical terminology 19) No matter what level I get in PESCI, the AHPRA will bring it to level one supervision 20) Since I have worked or have been working in Australian hospital environment, I may get different or difficult questions Guys...I have just mentioned some of the common misunderstandings that I have identified while assisting PESCI candidates...you may have similar or even different ones!
