Most of my friends know, Im staying at my friends house minding her dog, Kc, while shes away. And this morning at 5.40am, I was awoken by the smoke alarm to a house full of smoke and a fire in the kitchen. And of all things to start the fire?? The heater attached to the TAP! The simple fact that if the smoke alarm wasnt working, I would have most likely been poisoned by the carbon dioxide and wouldnt have woken at all! To say Im traumatised, would be an understatement. Thankfully Ive only been left with a pounding headache, some pain in my chest and a very heavy heart. I was so so lucky! So all I can do now, is ask all of you to please check or install a smoke alarm, you never realise until it happens to you. Huge thanks to the Fire Brigade and Garda who got to me so quickly and pulled out all of the stops to clear the house. Great neighbours, my Dad for coming to the rescue even though he had just finished a 12 hour shift. And my twinnie for looking after me even though shes not feeling great today herself. I never want to be that close to death again. DOES YOUR HOUSE HAVE A SMOKE ALARM? Yes? Check if its working!! No? GET ONE!
