Most of us can clearly remember that for a more than month after the deplorable December 16, 2012 gangrape of Nirbhaya/Jyoti Singh in Delhi, the BJP, its student wing ABVP and other many Sangh Parivar members & hired goons were all out on Delhis streets, politicizing the rape and putting the entire blame for the rape on the then Congress state government of Delhi and demanding then Delhi Cheif Minister Shiela Dixits resignation, claiming that she was responsible for the complete lack of womens safety in Delhi. And then, ever since Shri Narendra Modi jis Achche Din campaign for this years Lok Sabha elections started, one of his very popular messages among the people all over North India was - Bahut Hua Nari Par Waar. Abki Baar Modi Sarkar. Meaning - Women have suffered enough. This time, we must have Modi government. And more than 2 months into Modi Sarkar, look whats happening in Delhi - Only July 8, an 81 year old woman (yes 81) was raped and killed (strangled to death and her body burnt after that) by her 21 year old domestic help. And last Wednesday, a 23-year-old married woman was gangraped in a moving car by four unidentified assailants in Dwarka. These are the two major cases that the media has reported. And Ive focused only on Delhi. Dont get me started on what happened in Bangalore recently. And the less said the better about Ulta, I mean Uttar Pradesh. So much for #AchcheDin (And stop blaming the state governments. Its your PM who was selling such utopian promises) I pity those idiots who voted for the BJP hoping for a drastic improvement in womens safety. And where are our elite bourgeois and petite-bourgeois activists? Why no protests at India Gate like what was happening after Nirbhayas Rape? Hmm. I get it. It was December. Winter Time. Its July right now, Hot & Humid :/ Finally, last checked, Marital Rape is still NOT a crime in India.
