Most of us have a special place that we visit from time to time - TopicsExpress

Most of us have a special place that we visit from time to time that takes us back to our past. Well for me, its the 2014 deer hunting season thats once again upon us. As we return to our sacred ground of our beloved Chowchilla Mountain at our Greens Mill camp grounds, it will be my 40th trip and it will be my 33rd year of hunting this September. For those that really know me, I was strapped to my dads leg at age 5, and I have been at this spot ever since. Its a time especially saved to spend valuable time with my father. Time is everyones enemy and for me, dad and I have shared so many memories over the years at this special place. I anxiously await another year to spend time with my friends and other family family and to share the many stories that have been told again and again and again, and I hope to hear a few new ones. We bond, we laugh, we vent and pretend we are young again, even though it is short lived. I wait anxiously to hit that dirt road, to smell the Sierra National Forest clover. Hopefully we will get a much needed wet season, to fill our much needed water ways up and if we are really lucky, we might even get to witness the snow falling again, like it did last year. A few of us were blessed with harvesting an animal last year, including myself and hope that a few of us are fortunate enough to harvest one this coming year. I am truly blessed and very fortunate to make it again this year, when so many of our fellow friends and family will not. We have lost them physically, but their memory thrives in our hearts as we transcend into another year on the mountain. For those that don’t understand or have a negative opinion about hunting, I don’t have time to explain it, but for those that do understand, this piece is for you! To all of my fellow hunters that are able to hunt this year, Godspeed to all of you.
