Mostly for me why I love Howard Hawks, and Film Noir in general, is because everyone acts like a grown up. Let me just put it this way without demeaning anyone, although its impossible for me to speak without doing that - when you see Owen Wilson and Jennifer Anniston in a romcom acting like 5 year olds when theyre both in their 40s, think about the fact that Dorothy Malone is 19 in this movie, Lauren Bacall is 20 - and no one acts like theyre a kid.
