Mostly the abstract expressionists fail to move me. Rothko produced some nice decorative pieces to hang over the couch or the reception desk. But Im a big fan of Jackson Pollock and Robert Motherwell. Motherwell is probably the most connected to narrative in his abstactions; so for me he is the most cerebral and interesting. Rothko is mostly a color theorist and those guys bore me. Like Josef Albers, perhaps the most boring (serious) artist of the 20thC......
