Mother Nehanda Today we cry and wish you were here with us. We scream and cringe in pain because you are no longer here. You travelled for a long journey away from the mortals and went to live with other beings. From the folktales, hear about you and from the history books we read about. From the dreams, you pay us loads of visits. From the blood that flows in our hearts we feel your presence and we still mourn and wish you were with us. Each and every morning the sun rises and sinks back into the distant horizon. Each and every day a child is born and another one dies. Each and every time we find it hard to say morning because we are mourning. Each and every time tears never cease to flow down from our eyelids. We are crying Mbuya Nehanda we are mourning. We love and cherish the legacy that you left for this beautiful y now known as Zimbabwe. During our trials and tribulations we look back and cry. Our hearts are always bleeding and heavy. Today we still cry and wish you here with us our beloved mother. Through your selfless and audacious efforts the founding values of this land was born. The youth admire you Mbuya Nehanda. The old admire you Nyakasikana. They always wish you were here with us. We will make you smile from the grave mother Nehanda. You fought for peace, unity and prosperity. You wanted equality Nehanda! You wanted Zimbabwe to shine and that is why we find it hard to say morning at its sunrise because we are mourning. We the children of this whole land sing, “Nehanda Komborera mhuri yeZimbabwe! We sing those eulogies because we love and miss you Nehanda! We always wish you were here with us Amai. Our hearts are heavily bleeding with a burning desire Mbuya Nehanda. A heart yearns to make you smile from the grave. Though cannot deny that you are gone, we always miss and wish you were here with us Nehanda. We want to see you smile from the grave Nehanda. We will heal our wounds by offering our service and sacrifice to your nation. We will make you smile Nehanda, the wounds never heal because we wish you were here with us today.
