Mount Olive Community Leaders Kevin Kornegay and Julie Beck were 2 of 40 Wayne County community leaders who were inducted as Honorary Commanders at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base this week. The purpose of the program is to build a long-lasting relationship and partnership between Seymour Johnson AFB and Wayne County. To be chosen, the Honorary Commander must be: 1. A recognized outstanding community or business leader 2 An enthusiastic supporter of the mission of Seymour Johnson AFB 3. Someone who is willing to find resources to accomplish the objectives of the HCP program and to help tell the Air Forces story to the public 4. Someone who will commit to a 2 year term Kevin and Julie, along with the other Honorary Commanders, were recognized individually with a Wing, Group or Squadron Commander from Seymour Johnsons 4th Fighter Wing or the 916th Air Refueling Wing. The passing of the flag and the exchange of the coin occurred during the induction ceremony.
