Moved Mr. Grumbles and Miss Mutter to a larger cage today. It is - TopicsExpress

Moved Mr. Grumbles and Miss Mutter to a larger cage today. It is only a small two story ferret cage so they can not get hurt falling. I put Mr. Grumbles on one floor and Miss Mutter on the other floor as they are not particularly fond of one another. There is a water bottle and food dishes on both floors so they do not have to interact if they do not wish to do so. Both ate some formula this morning but are eating more of the veggies/fruits as well. Pinkies are doing great this morning. Some people question my use of the formula I created with the help of a PhD animal nutritionist. You may use whatever works for you and I am not going to question your use of the product you use. I had too many problems with the squirrels using the commercial products from bloating babies, babies with diarrhea, babies not growing hair and babies dying to continue to use the commercial formulas. I did a lot of research into what I wanted to use and then discussed it with the PhD. While he did not say it was perfect by what he would use, he did say that if it was working for me then I should probably not changed it very much. Many people have used goat milk over the years by itself and I know that it does not have sufficient fat/protein levels so wanted to do something to increase those levels. Other people might choose different ingredients to come to the same levels and that is fine so long as it works for the babies. I do not tell people that they must use what I came up with but it is an alternative for those who have had issues and are tired of watching babies struggle or die. I dont mind people questioning what I use but I would say this to them, is it better to do research and come up with something that does not kill or cause suffering or blindly follow what others have done before? We have had a lot of success with it and the babies grow up healthy and huge. Some of them raised on it were the injured ones that had to stay permanently here so I can monitor if there are future issues after being on this formula and not one has occurred.
