Movie: The Monuments Men (George Clooney, John Goodman, Matt Damon, Bill Murray, Cate Blanchett)…Film critics were harsh with this George Clooney produced, written & starring movie. This (80% true, per Clooney) story focuses on the FDR task force assigned to go into Europe and rescue art masterpieces stolen by Nazi thieves. Gorgeous artwork, lovely scenery, true story, all-star cast…whats not to like? Surprisingly, just not the stunner I thought it would be. The one-liners and few comedic moments fall a little flat, seeing as the subject matter is so serious, and the music seemed inappropriately placed in several scenes. But the history lesson here is important, the artwork is gorgeous and the real deal. The movie, though, didnt completely thrill me.
