Movies - usually my son Rocky and I have the same taste in movies - lots of realistic adventures (plus Forrest Gump and some other personality portraits), but we have totally disagreed onThe Place Beyond The Pines. He loved it, I was bored almost to tears. Maybe it is because I read so much fiction! I found the movie predictable with no positive message. I started it weeks ago, watched a few minutes, stopped. The next week, I made myself watch a little more and again stopped. Saturday night, I was determined to get through it and had just finished watching Alex Cross (the movie, which I thought had a great ending and I do read a lot of James Patterson novels) and the Olympics. I had to MAKE myself watch the whole Pines film. I did it and then felt so bad Sunday morning when Rocky asked me if I had watched it and how I liked it and I had to be truthful and tell him I kept hoping it would end soon so I could get back to reading my chemistry book (it is pretty pathetic that I preferred a chemistry textbook to a movie!). Hopefully, there will be a great adventure movie coming out soon we will again agree on! It sure wont be in the Die Hard franchise - Die Hard (#1) was super but they have gotten more and more into fantasy land! I want more L.A. Confidential, Goodfellas, The Godfather, Casino. Or even The Three Stooges! LOL
