Mr. Klees rejects the notion of internalizing the debate about the amendment, arguing it’s those sort of back-room, closed-door type tactics that turn people off political parties and breed cynicism among the electorate. As to the number of members behind the amendment, Mr. Klees says that’s irrelevant. “My point is if, in fact, this is only supported by a small group of 20 or 30 people, then what’s there to fear?” he said. “Have a debate, call the vote and get on with it.”
