Mr. Kulp and I have been patiently awaiting the arrival of our income tax refund since May. We figure it had probably gotten lost in the mail or we were being audited so we werent especially anxious to call about the holdup. However about once a month or so one of us would muse about what could have happened to it, but with our lives turned upside down this summer, we didnt bother to follow up on the issue. Finally on Friday, we received an envelope from the IRS. We opened it together, expecting to find a check but instead we found a letter stating the following: We have your refund check for _______ amount but we dont have an address to send it to. Please fill out the enclosed form with your correct address so that we can forward your check. In addition to this peculiar piece of correspondence was enclosed in the envelope was a total of 6 papers: two were copies of the same form to return, two pieces of blank paper, 2 pages of nonsense, and an address face paper to show through an envelope, even though an envelope was not enclosed. Our correct mailing address was printed on every single page except the blanks, including the envelope in which it was sent to the home weve lived in for the past SEVENTEEN YEARS.
