Mr Rabbits Round 3 Wrap Up thanks to Paterson Butchery. See Pete for all your summer BBQ supplies at Paterson Butchery. It wont be a day many Rabbits talk about for years to come but amongst the ducks, dropped catches and shattered dreams a few stories will live on. A Grade welcomed perennial heavyweights Port Stephens to the home soil of Blackhill looking to continue there good start to season 14/15. Brushing off media scrutiny from last seasons semi final defeat to Port David Hakes had the boys all fired up. Port won the toss and soon after Murphys men padded up one by one as the wickets tumbled. 1/0 quickly turned into 3/11 followed by 5/25 before Ryan Young Gun Superstar Lifeguard Abs Lacy (36) in his 50th RRCC appearance slightly steadied the sinking ship. Tim Burton (7*) hung in there until the end at 10/85 (20.4). With the red ball in hand Lacy 2/29 (5) continued on the good form taking a classic C&B to start Ports innings. T.Burton 2/18 (6) & Brendan Hourigan 2/19 (3.3) kept the boys in with a fighting chance when the sheet read 7/67. In the end 85 wasnt enough and Port picked up a bonus point 7/89 (18.3). C Grade travelled to the immaculately manicured grounds of Brandon Park Seaham for what Mr Rabbit believes is the first ever clash between Raworth & Seaham. Seaham won the toss and using home ground knowledge of the newly laid synthetic and super fast buffalo outfield decided it was perfect batting conditions. No one could argue with their decision after posting 6/185 (35). Eden Janissen 2/29 (7) had the best figures along with Luke Alcorn 2/33(6) who also grabbed a run out. The real story of the fielding effort was $26 ($30 all up) for the kitty after some easy catches were made to look hard and some hard catches made to look impossible. A slow start with the bat at 1/0 and continuel wickets dropping every 15-20 runs had skipper Matt Harvey red in the face. Brendan Lloyd hit an impressive 25 off 16 with 5x4s before leaving the gate open and having his castle destroyed. Simon Janissen (25) & Mitchell Thompson (17) held strong but it wasnt enough. 3 quick wickets on 125 completed the innings at 10/125 (27.1) E Grade enjoyed a local clash with Hinton at Beryl Humble. Captain Michael Gibbons started well by winning the toss and electing to send his opposition into the hot shadeless outfield. A steady 22 run partnership from Jordan Auld (20) & P.Darnley-Stuart (6) soon turned to 3/28. Veteran John Hanlon (50*) came to the rescue and slowly steadied the ship for Stephen Baxter (21 off 13) to edge 4 boundaries. Mark James Hickey made batting look extremely difficult with 24 dot balls before scoring 8 off 44. Jake Maybury (0) continued on his pathway to the Great Race with his second duck in a row. S.Walker (0) was run out to ensure Colin Dennis gate 1 in the race and a greater female turnout for presentation night. All out 2 balls short of the 35 overs a grand total of 10/123 (34.4) was going to be tough to defend. A quick rattle of the stumps from J.Auld 1/31 (7) had the visitors on their toes early. S.Baxter 2/28(5) calmed them instantly and M.Janissen 0/18 (1) got the ball rolling again. J . Maybury 2/23 (5) claimed a couple of late wickets to make the scorebook look more respectable. Hinton cruised past the line at 6/132 (26). A= equal 3rd on 9 points C= equal 3rd on 8 points E= equal 3rd on 6 points Mr Rabbits Player of the Week goes to Ryan Young Gun Superstar Lifeguard Abs Ryan Lacy in his 50th RRCC appearance. Making 36 with the bat and a caught & bowled to his figures of 2/39(5).
