Msheireb Properties hosts Risk Management Forum The theme of this year’s forum was Risk Management in Practice, which involved taking a more in-depth look at the practical aspects of risk management while focusing on the global experience relevant to the Gulf region. Attending the forum was a diverse mix of experts from a range of industries, such as auditors, consultants, engineers, contractors, healthcare and IT experts, oil and gas professionals, project and programme managers as well as real estate developers. The forum featured a rich agenda where a number of industry experts spoke on key issues, including mitigating project risk, safeguarding national information and communications systems, managing cyber risks and getting to grips with the human factor in risk. “Msheireb Properties is very proud of this forum as it not only highlights an area of great importance, that of risk management, but also represents an opportunity for people who have expertise in the field to come together and share their insights and experiences. Our hope is that, in time, this forum will become the flagship regional platform for high-level discussions and decision-making on risk management,” said Abdulla Hassan al-Mehshadi, CEO of Msheireb Properties. During the forum, Theuns Kotze, regional managing director of British Standard Institution (BSI), awarded Msheireb Properties compliance with the international ISO 31000:2009 Risk Management Standard in recognition of its risk management practice and effective implementation of risk management throughout its business, including strategy, management, communications and operations across the organisation and at its flagship project, Msheireb Downtown Doha. “We are delighted and extremely proud to have achieved compliance with this risk management standard. As a major milestone in the evolution of our young company, it reflects our commitment to pursuing excellence in all areas of our business and our determination to attain the very best in international standards,” said al-Mehshadi. Msheireb Properties has incorporated the latest risk management procedures as part of a broader effort to incorporate industry best practices into its operations. It is already certified in ISO 9001:2008 for quality management, ISO 14001:2004 for environmental management and BS OHSAS 18001:2007 for occupational health and safety management systems.
