This is certainly a timely verse due to the 2 part series my husband has recently preached telling of Jesus enabling His disciples to carry on & spread the word of His works & ministry.As Bro. Houston has explained it isnt only the Church Pastor who must minister to the sick,the lost,the hurting,but each & every Christian must minister as well.I am ordained & licensed ,but at each service I have preached or class I have taught I have opened with that thought as well by prefacing the service with this : I am but a MINISTER of the word just as EACH member of the congregation & Christian in the world is a minister of the word.People denigrate their usefulness to Christ by saying things such as: I am uneducated, I work in a factory,but I am a housewife.Im new here, & other excuses.YOU DO NOT NEED A DEGREE OR TO BE A CEO TO MINISTER TO OTHERS. Being new is a great reason to walk up, introduce yourself & begin talking about Jesus or listen if your newest friend has a problem! Housewives we have so many opportunities besides with our own families!We run errands that take us to so many places: the grocery,the library(more later),doctors,cleaners,schools,sporting events,stations,Dollar General(more on that later too)Etc.Most of those places dont mind if you post flyers for church events or leave literature.My friend Stephanie was a library aid & I was there 1 or 2 times a week,didnt know her then,but she always had a big smile & 1 day she nailed me.She said,Arent you the preachers wife?I nod yes.Why havent you ever asked me to come to your church? I was speechless & mumbled I thought she was a member elsewhere.They began the next Sunday.Crystal worked @ Dollar Gnl with another member who would invite her & her family.I would as well as I came through the line.They came and have been coming back for 3yrs!
