Mt. Kili Madness - Cricket on the top of Africa Aliya Bauer Founder at Maasai Cricket Warriors In September I am taking part in a very exciting – and dangerous – challenge of climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro and then playing the world’s highest game of cricket at that level. We are hoping to raise over £500,000 for three amazing charities that are close to my heart: Cancer Research UK, Tusk Trust and the Rwanda Cricket Stadium Foundation. It is now my wish to give 2 promising young Alexandra Township Chiefs cricketers from the impoverished Alexandra Township in Johannesburg, the opportunity to join us in scaling the heights of Mt. Kilimanjaro and to mark their names in the record books while at the same time allowing their dreams to be larger than the mountains as they courageously scale the summit as ambassadors from disadvantaged communities while campaigning against violence which has become prevalent not only in the townships, but in society at large. Our story is about pushing forward, being strong, being fighters, being survivors, dreaming, and climbing to reach that dream… I have started a fundraising campaign in support of this and Im reaching out to you for any support that you may be able to provide. If everyone gives a little bit it will make a very big difference. It feels great to give. Even small amounts will make a difference – every little bit helps!
