Mtakuyapi, May I share with you.....? Tonight was amazing and humbling to my cante. My soul was reawakened by the elders amongst my OGLALA NATION. I love going into inipi with our old timers. Grandpa Joe (83 y.o.) gave some strong words of encouragement. He said, We dont have a canupa tonight and that is okay because our canupa up in GREEN GRASS is always loaded for us to pray. He then went on to say, Before each time i take a drink of water I pray for our relatives who crossed over on the other side. How beautiful and powerful and sacred is that...? I love how our elders choose to walk upon the flesh of our sacred Earth Mother. He then asked us all, Please pray for the hearing on the URANIUM MINING in the Black Hills. It is tomorrow from 11-2 and 4-6 in Hot Springs, SD at the Mueller Center. I wish I could go. The sincerity in his voice and love in his heart is the very reason i wake up every single day and pray for the SLEEPING GIANTS to awaken...the roots of the OGLALA LAKOTA. We are here and yes we are alive YET many of us are distorted and confused. I pray for us always to find our sacred pathways and connect to everything alive...the birds, the trees, the moon, the stars, the rocks and the animals. Tonight inipi was amazing and nurturing to my soul. It was extremely hot, just the way I like it. Each round just about put me down. LMAO. Almost pulled a WASICU and climbed out the side. Hahahahaha. I was able to speak tonight before my elders and I introduced myself, my parents and grandparents and CAMP I come from. Then I explained how my dad taught me how to pray. And because of this way I hardly pray for myself. I explained how difficult it is to do that. Then I asked them to pray for me please. ThatI stay off cigarettes and that I continue to be strong because I want to live long upon the flesh of earth mother. I asked them to pray for me to stay focused and balanced in the classroom this year and be strong for my sacred students as this will be my 16th and last year in the classroom here among the OGLALA NATION. I am ready to move on now. I love how I was able to comfortably express myself in our sacred hocoka tonight. It is good. After it was over I literally crawled out...barely! LMAO. The first thing I saw was our sacred fire still going. I thought to myself...ahhh, i could do this. Then I heard all the summer animals, mainly the LOCUSTS....just echoing through the valley. Then i looked up to see the oldest of all...the STAR NATION...they were picture perfect beyond the grandpa trees that surrounded the sacred lodge and alter and fire...ohhhh how beautiful and sacred it is to be LAKOTA......I thought to myself as I closed my eyes. Upon opening my eyes I saw the CANKU LUTA WAKAN...the Sacred Red Road AKA The Milky Way. I am beautiful. I am sacred. I am a woman, mother, daughter and grandmother. I am Lakota. I am free. I am happy. Hecetu Ksto. Mitakuye Oyasin
