Much gets made of thought leadership. This is a night not to - TopicsExpress

Much gets made of thought leadership. This is a night not to think, but to feel. To climb out of the head, down into the heart. Its an irony, for that climb down is an ascension. Upward motion of our experience with God by all names. Preparing for Christmas gives us way too much to think about. But as Malcolm Gladwell noted in Blink, our inner urging is our best way of knowing. To make time for quiet, for contemplation of simply breathing and being alive, is to open a pathway to wisdom the mind will never reach. The intelligentsia may argue against this. But the likes of Mother Teresa, Gandhi, Nelson Mandela tell us we made more wise by quiet deeds than many words. Mary was asked merely to hear, and to trust, against a riotous mental logic that said being pregnant out of wedlock is all wrong, all threatening, sure-fire scandal and death. But no. What looks wrong is Gods rightness waiting to happen. There is no poverty-sodden mess God cant make into a work of human art. Icons of which likely ride the mantle pieces and front lawns of your home and neighborhood on this Christmas Eve. Merry Christmas, everyone. Let the noise dim with the lights. Find time to be alone with just the company of your spirit. God lives in there. And, thus, we are never alone. Love surrounds you. Love sustains you. Love is who you are.
