Much gratitude to Michigan Jenn Amo!! Keep speaking up, Jenn!!! (Video) #EndHumanTrafficking #Michigan #Global GRAND RAPIDS, MI - A student who devotes her free time to caring for her special needs sister. One man’s mission to clone the world’s “largest and most iconic trees.” A woman who’s fighting to stop human trafficking. All are people who embody the philosophy of “Go Further” – a Ford Motor Company promotional challenge in which students from three West Michigan colleges created YouTube videos that capture the stories of “inspiring people” who own Ford cars. The participating schools are Calvin College, Grand Valley State University and Compass College of Cinematic Arts. The college whose video receives the most views wins a cash award. An official said the maximum prize is about $4,000. Phil de Haan, a public relations specialist at Calvin, helped oversee the creation of the video created by Calvin students. His students found an inspiring story in Calvin student Hannah Kwekel, who has a strong relationship with her special-needs sister. In the video, Kwekel talks about how helping her sister inspired her to study occupational therapy. The project gave the students an opportunity to create and promote their own content. They focused on filming and editing the video, as well as how to promote the finished product on social media, de Haan said. “It seemed like this would be a fantastic opportunity for students to think through these issues in real life,” he said. Grand Valley’s video features the story of David Milarch, co-founder of Archangel Ancient Tree Archive, a nonprofit dedicated to saving old growth trees and preserving their genetics. Compass College’s video tells the story of Jenn Amo, an ambassador with Women at Risk International who’s working to stop human trafficking.
