Muddy Creek Results HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (June 29, 2014) – Muddy Creek Raceway in Blountville, Tenn. was host to round five of the 2014 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship Series. Muddy Creek is a new venue for the series in only its second year as a stop on the tour. MAVTV aired the first moto live, and the second moto was broadcast live on NBC. The first motos are always streamed live on promotocross and both motos from each round are archived on promotocross. Justin Brayton returned from injury at Muddy Creek joining Josh Grant and Phil Nicoletti, making for a three rider effort. Grant debuted a new helmet cam the series is running and it recorded a big first turn crash that collected Grant in the first moto. Grant had to adjust his fork guard and readjust his thumb which had been briefly dislocated before getting under way, he logged 40th place on lap one. Meanwhile, Nicoletti and Brayton had been able to avoid the first turn carnage and were sixth and seventh after the first lap, respectively. Grant mounted an inspiring charge and was able to pass most of the field and finish in 11th place. Brayton was eighth. Nicoletti appeared to have a sixth place finish on lock but with half a lap to go an incident with a lapped rider caused him to go down relegating him to 17th. Grant was checked out by the Asterisk Mobil Medical Unit and cleared to race the second moto. All three riders were in the top-10 at the start of moto two with Nicoletti fifth, Grant sixth, and Brayton 10th. Grant advanced to fith by the second lap and maintained the position until the last lap, where he gave up one spot to finish sixth. Brayton was 15th, and Nicoletti 13th. Grant’s 11 – six moto scores earned him ninth overall, Brayton’s eight – 15 finishes equated to 10th for the day, and Nicoletti’s 17 – 13 results were good for 16th. The next race in the series also marking the halfway point on the tour will be on July 5 at Red Bud Track and Trail in Buchanan, Mich. MAVTV will broadcast the first moto live at 1:00 p.m. (EST) and the second moto will air live on NBC at 3:00 p.m. (EST). The first moto will also stream live on promotocross.
