Muhammad Farooq, Lecturer, Department of English has been awarded M.Phil degree Muhammad Farooq, Lecturer, Department of English has been awarded M.Phil degree. He successfully defended his MPhil Dissertation at the Department of English Islamia college Peshawar on 21st July, 2014. His Thesis Topic is Master-Slave relationship: A Postcolonial Analysis of Kipling short stories. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal supervised his thesis while Dr Shazia Shah was his external examiner. He analyzed Rudyard Kiplings short stories from the Postcolonial perspective. He discussed the relationship between the colonizers and colonized; the master and the slave; and, the native and the foreign. Traditionally, the British Imperialists, as their White color suggests, are considered to be civilized, educated, knowledgeable, learned, sophisticated and cultured--all that is noble. In order to make it appear natural and truthful, its binary opposite was created in the picture of the Indian natives as Black. The next step was easy to depict them through the conspiracy of ideology and discourse as ignorant, uncivilized, uncultured, exotic, strange, weird and mysterious--all that are ignoble. This study concluded that the colonizers (white master) white skin did enwrap sufficient black(ness) to disqualify their exclusive claim for being the best. Quite conversely, the colonizeds black skin did enwrap sufficient white(ness) to debunk the myth of absolute black or absolute white. The colonizers were only apparently white but they were black from within while the colonized were only apparently black but white from within. Focal Person Department of English
