Mum questionMy 10 month old baby slept from 6am-6pm from 8 weeks old to roughly 5 months, he then started to get teeth and his pattern changed and has still changed several times, he has never needed to be breastfed to go to sleep but in the last month the only way I can get him to sleep after 4am is to breastfeed him back to sleep. I am getting a lot of critique from in laws such as if he was formula fed (like the rest of his cousins) he would sleep right through by now. Has anybody had experience with this? Im not sure what to do? He has a dummy. Ive tried not getting out of the cot... Getting out of the cot... Nursing/ cuddling... All that works is putting him In our bed and feeding to sleep then he stays there till 7-8am but I know this is a bad habit. Especially given I need to go away for work beginning early next year? Any help is much appreciated. Thank you Pinky says: Please relax and enjoy the extra cuddles - you are doing what works, what feels right for you and your baby, its safe and respectful. Every baby is different - all night in infant sleep studies is only 5 hours - not 12 hrs, so you can honestly tell your critics that your baby sleeps all night. Your baby is probably experiencing a pretty intense stage of development right now and if he is mobile he will be burning calories - here is a blog about night feeds and why your baby may still need them. Its never a bad habit to help your baby feel loved and secure. By early next year he will be at another stage of development so please dont worry about this right now. You will probably be able to make some gentle changes in a couple of months .beautifulbreastfeeding/does-your-baby-really-need-night-feeds/
