Murphs Shenanigans - Doubling Up On A Good Thing The term Brown Ale was coined by London brewers in the late 17th century. In those days, this term encompassed a wide variety of beers linked only by their color. In America, the style was revived and modified by exchanging the traditional British grains and hops for American versions. By the 1980s, American homebrewers had made so many changes to the original, they forced a new beer into the rulebooks, the American Brown Ale. The success of this style continued ten years later, when Pete Slosbergs eponymous Wicked Ale helped grow the burgeoning craft beer industry in this country. Clandestines Murphs Shenanigans is an imperialized version of the American Brown style, to which weve added a few things... First, coarse-ground coffee is cold steeped for 24 hours before being added to the beer; then we add plenty of vanilla beans, along with cacao nibs and oak cubes. After aging together for at least a week, the intense flavors of all the components meld into one incredibly tasty beer! Vital Stats 1.068 OG / 6.7% ABV / 63 IBU
