Murray City Police Chief Plead Guilty to a Misdemeanor Charging him for Receiving Stolen Property from Paul J. Roberts Christopher Bishop, age 37, of Murray City, Ohio, appeared before Judge George P. McCarthy on October 29, 2013, and plead guilty to one (1) count of Receiving Stolen Property, a first degree Misdemeanor and one (1) count of Obstructing Official Business, a second degree Misdemeanor. Prosecutor Blackburn says that “Christopher Bishop, the Murray City Police Chief purchased a Harley Davidson Motorcycle from Paul J. Roberts. The owner of the motorcycle was the deceased Paul E. Roberts, the father of Paul J. Roberts. By Mr. Bishop pleading guilty he will be entering the Athen’s County Diversion Program. Bishop has also agreed to cooperate and testify against Paul J. Roberts, who is being charged for the murder of Paul E. Roberts.” Blackburn says he is more concerned with the State building a strong case against Paul J. Roberts which is a more serious offense. As to whether Mr. Bishop’s actions will affect his position as Murray City Police Chief; that will be up to Murray City officials. The Hocking County Sheriff’s department arrested Christopher Bishop on Monday, October 28, 2013. Ronda Degarmore, age 37, of Glouster, Ohio appeared before Judge L. Alan Goldsberry on October 29, 2013 and plead not guilty to one (1) count of Theft, a fifth degree Felony; one (1) count of Receiving Stolen Property, a fifth degree Felony; and one (1) count of Obstructing Justice, a third degree Felony. Prosecutor Blackburn says, “ Degarmore will be held on a $125,000 bond with 10% allowed and must not have any contact with Paul J. Roberts.” This case was investigated by the Glouster Police Department.
