Well our old dog Rocket is gone! This morning he could barely walk and was having other personal issues that said the time has come! Paulas Gramma use to say that its a sin to let a dog (pet) suffer. So I went and dug his grave and Paula called the vet. I dug his grave right next to Indigos grave so they are side by side. She was another one of our great Southern Black Mouth Curs. Both were pure bred. Christopher Rowland helped me dig his grave but had an appointment and had to leave early. Not unlike his Dad....Chris doesnt handle this well either. Being on a small ranch we have had to put down many animals for one reason or another. Everything from domestic fowl, to goats, pigs and horses etc.... Dogs are without a doubt the toughest for all of us. Matthew Peter Rogero had to help me bury Indigo some years ago as Chris just could not do it. They grew up together and had too many great adventures. Indigo once saved Chris from a Black Bear in the mountains of North Carolina when we were there vacationing with David King. Indi alerted before Chris ever saw the bear and when the bear jumped up from behind a huge boulder...Indi was all over it. Southern Black Mouth Curs dogs will die before they let something hurt their owners. Our dogs use to catch fish live in the pond and bring them to Paula with a big grin on their face like...Here....I brought you a present! When Chris and I had to go out of town or were somewhere across the country....Paula and Rocki Simmons never felt unsafe with Rocket and Indigo on guard. Anyway....Im worn out from this ordeal and will just share some more pics. Thnaks again for all of your prayers and concerns and most of all your comments! You have no idea how much they help. And brother Mike Blackburn.....I know the time is near for your lab so I just want to let you know that if you need a place to bury him.....our property is open for you! Two people that were not immediate family but are definitely FAMILY were Matt Rogero and Justin McGee that Rocket had a special Love for. It did not matter how much time passed between seeing them....he was always elated when they walked through the door! When they slept over here....Rocket insisted on sleeping wherever they slept. He loved those two guys something special!!
