Museveni Sponsors Live Coverage of FIFA 2014 World Cup In a bid to boost sports in the country, President Museveni, has proudly sponsored the live and free broadcast of the FIFA 2014 World Cup in Brazil on Uganda Broadcast Corporation (UBC). By Suzan Nawonga Information Minister, Rose Namayanja While launching the UBC world cup campaign at hotel Africana this week, the Minister of Information and National Guidance, Rose Namayanja Nsereko told sports fans that the president’s intention is to ensure that all Ugandans enjoy watching fellow African teams struggle for the World Cup. Namayanja applauded the president for the noble move of extending the world cup to peoples’ homes and on a similar note urged the majority youth to make the best use of the service by learning sports tactics. Hon Michael Mawanda, the Member of Parliament for Igara East, constituency said “what the president has done should act as an eye opener to the public because this has shown how supportive the government is to the sports world.” Mawanda further appealed to the public to always show “positivity to such noble causes than criticizing government programs all the time.” The World Cup kicks off on June 12 with hosts Brazil facing off with Croatia at Arena de sao Paulo in Sao Paulo City.
