Mushtaq Malli slams KCR for denying tickets to Muslims Hyderabad, March 18: Tahreek Muslim Shabban and Telangana Muslims Joint Action Committee president Mohammad Mushtaq Mallik has condemned the statement of TRS President K Chandrasekhar Rao for asking Muslims to wait for five years to get adequate representation in elected bodies. KCR has reportedly told a delegation of Muslim religious and social leaders that the TRS would not be able to give tickets to adequate number of Muslims for the local bodies, Assembly and Lok Sabha elections. He said that the Muslims have played an active role in the Telangana movement and KCR alone could not take credit for the formation of new State. He said Muslims constitute nearly 15 per cent of total population in Telangana and their votes play a crucial in almost all Assembly and Lok Sabha segments in Telangana. Therefore, an increase in the number of Muslim representatives in Assembly and Lok Sabha was as important as rebuilding the Telangana. Mushtaq Mallik said that by denying tickets to Muslim candidates, KCR is adopting an anti-Muslim stand. He said denial of tickets to Muslim candidates by major parties was part of a larger conspiracy to confine the communitys representation in Assembly and other elected bodies. He ridiculed the contention of parties that Muslim candidates could not win elections. He said that the parties themselves should take the responsibility of ensuring the victory of their Muslim candidates like they do with the candidates of other castes. He warned the TRS chief against joining moves to minimise Muslims representation. He advised the Muslims to realise the importance of their votes and ensure the victory of Muslim candidates, irrespective of parties that they represent. He said that the TMJAC would launch a campaign to educate the Muslims to vote united to increased communitys political strength in all the elected bodies, especially Assembly and Lok Sabha.
