Music review : Dolly Ki Doli Release date : 23 January Arbaaz Khan Productions DABANGG and DABANGG 2 had super-duper hit music by Salman-Arbaazs favourite, Sajid-Wajid , and so their next, DOLLY KI DOLI, too carries good expectations. The film is a remake of the super hit Punjabi con flick, RONDE SAARE WYAH PICHO, and so the music is expected to be light, funny and entertaining. So lets check out the audio. The wedding dance number, Phatte Tak Nachna, backed by electronic and damdaar dhol beats and a nice rhythm does impress, especially if viewed in context of the situation (con bride). Sung adroitly by Sunidhi Chauhan, the bindaas attitude of the main female lead, is conveyed well through the lyrics of the song. After Munni Badnaam Hui and Fevicol Se, Mamta Sharma was expected to repeat the magic with another item number, Fashion Khatam Mujhpe, and she does succeed, but not to the level of the expectations , the racy rhythm and beats make up to a large extent for the heard before tune (Solah Khatam Satrah Shuru from AAKHRI ADAALAT-1988). Wajid and Shadab Sabri provide good support in this reasonably cute item number which righty features fashion icon Malaika Arora Khan, and her sizzling presence will surely aid to the popularize the song . Wajid and Danish Sabri get together for the zany, situational number, Babaji Ka Thullu and it manages in its endeavor to raise a few laughs. As they say- idea ki keemat hoti hai (Its the idea that counts), and on that count it is likely to score with the Gen X. The title song, Dolly Ki Doli, rightly brings out the essence of the movie and sketches the character of the main female lead. The fun, situational track thrives on a peppy rhythm and Divya Kumars emotive and modulating vocals are a highlight of the track, along with the lyrics by Irfan Kamal. And it seems that Sajid-Wajid had reserved the best for last as Rahat Fateh Ali Khans Mere Naina Kafir Ho Gaye is undoubtedly outstanding in every aspect. Lovely flowing rhythm, superb soft arrangements, heart touching lyrics and above all, the king of sufi romantic numbers, Rahats magical rendition. Sajid Wajid and Rahat carry on the excellent work, DABANGG (Tere Mast Mast Do Nain) and DABANGG 2 (Dagabaaz Re). Summing up, the audio of DOLLY KI DOLI stays true to its theme and is a fun, light and entertaining musical experience. Despite the film being an Arbaaz Khan Production and not starring superstar Salman himself, still Sajid-Wajid come up with a good attempt.
