Music teachers of all ages/expertise, Im listening to my moms student playing scales, and it made me wonder: When teaching scales, what do you find is the best way to get the kids to play them? Do you try to make them fun, or make them into a game? Do you present them in a way other than scales, i.e. we have lots of different groups of notes, heres one group? Do you teach them the theory behind scales? Do you try to teach them the importance of scales, and that they need to play them even though they may be boring or difficult? Or something else? Im curious, and I cant really decide what I think is the best method.
