Musicians/ music lovers.. Pledge Me.. Nobody seems to be talking about it on here, only doing it. Id like to hear some thoughts on using charitable donations to make a financially risk free album/ EP, then potentially taking any funds from sales and doing as you will with them. Im dead against it, regardless of the way the music industry/ illegal downloading thing has evolved over the last 15 years. Traditionally a record company would stump up the money to fund recording, marketing and distribution, but that money would have to be paid back regardless of sales, then royalties could be paid out.. It was a risk, and that is why record deals were hard to come by.
