Musings: The long list of coup plotters in Nigerian history have purposely under equipped the police, and maintained an under trained armed forces except for the special protective units or those loyal to the rulers. In order to maintain power, they most likely created a dysfunctional intelligence system filled with inside snitches and informants. Over the years, these may have advanced to sensitive positions and built internal army of loyalists spread throughout the entire defence and security forces. Current civilian presidents have to possibly rely on many of these planted foot soldiers of former rulers for advice on how to secure the nation and prosecute wars...At this point, it is wise to recruit, retrain and re-arm the entire security apparatus of Nigeria as a legacy for the future. Just me musing.
