Mvskoke (Creek/Seminole) Word of the Day PVTO - Phonetically, puh-doe Translation: Morel mushroom, a delicate variety of wild mushroom that grows for a very short period in the Spring (mid-April in Oklahoma). Mvskoke people historically foraged for many wild varieties of seasonal edible plants such as berries, wild potatoes, wild onions and poke (to name a few). This particular food item is considered a delicacy because of the short growing season, delicious taste and difficulty locating it. Very tasty when seasoned, batter coated and fried. (Ive posted this before but couldnt resist repeating. My son and I picked these fresh this morning) As always, please feel free to share our beautiful Mvskoke language!
