My 93-year old grandma Virginia Stanger passed on into immortality earlier today. I have fond memories of homemade ice cream and baked goods, as well as playing with my Stanger cousins nearly every week. I also remember the aunts and uncles having vigorous discussions inside the home while we children played--a lively, communicative family, nurtured by Grandmas love and patience. I feel asleep on the drive home to many classic radio shows (occasionally, I will catch one on the radio on a Sunday evening). It brings back a nostalgia for a simpler wonderful time...I remember the spring smells in the air, the sight of tires burning over HillField, the wonderful aromas from the kitchen, Chinese checkers, twister, the basement, the cow and barn, the occasional run in with a skunk or other critter, the swing set at Dave and Pams, whiffle ball, kick the can, hide and seek--so many fond memories all wrapped up in thinking of grandma who helped make it all happen. She really was so sweet and patient with all of us grandchildren--and there were plenty of us!! Farewell, Grandma Virginia. Until we meet again...RIP.
