My Aunt Ginny Kreiter celebrated her 90th birthday this past - TopicsExpress

My Aunt Ginny Kreiter celebrated her 90th birthday this past Saturday! Congratulations to this very special lady in my life. She is my moms only remaining sister. Its hard to believe that from a family of 7, we now have 3 Lohmans left with us. I am so happy my family in Breese celebrate with Ginny on Saturday! I did tell my mom it was her birthday and she was happy. But a few moments later when I mentioned something about the party for Ginny she had no recall that it was her birthday. We sent flowers and I know my mom would loved to have talked to her, but we are asked not to have her call anyone at home yet. I hope that this restriction is eased soon. She does wonder about her family and why no one calls or comes to see her. Since she thinks she is in Breese, she thinks they should all be coming. This is one of the hardest parts of this transition. But hopefully soon we can make phone calls. She seems more content there now and she keeps saying: I dont think I could have chosen a better place to live and she will also say things like this is really a bunch of fun people here. We have a really fun time and are so busy Whenever she leaves her unit and is escorted to the bistro or the gym or the formal dining room, she thinks she is going out somewhere. So her perception is that she is really out and about and traveling around and very busy all the time. And, even though all of this is on one floor, she thinks that she is traveling to other floors, out into town, etc. Thats a good thing because it makes her feel as though she is super active and busy. Amazing how the disease alters their perceptions. This move was hard on my Aunt Ginny too. The reality that she will never see my mom again is very difficult to accept, as it is for all of us when we stop to think about it. But that is the reality of it. To dwell on it only upsets all of us. My Aunt Ginny is a very wise woman and when I spoke with her she could only express gratitude for the flowers and her thankfulness that my mom is now taken care of. SHe misses her so much, but wants what is best for her. My Aunt Ginny is one of the most self less people that I have every known. She is accepting of life, she is always smiling, always giving and happy. She is a fantastic role model for us all! Happy #90!! This picture was taken 3 years ago, but she still looks the same! I know my mom celebrated this milestone for her sister in her own way inside her heart somewhere.
