My Baja experience was one I will not forget. No secret that Team - TopicsExpress

My Baja experience was one I will not forget. No secret that Team BFG was after a win. Off to a good start, Brad Lovell and Brian Finch pushed hard and established a commanding lead. Bad luck stuck and the timing belt went south. After some downtime and battling some of Bajas best silt John Williams and I took over. We had the most desolate section with little support. As the sun came up we lost a wheel to a rock. As we changed the wheel, we lost the lead. This would be the tail for the day as we suffered a broken upright north of Pit 4. Few hours down and we were back at it. At about RM 625 the transmission would decide it had enough. We got to an access road and called for parts. We jumped on it and had the bad parts out by the time the new trans arrived. This cost us about 4 hours. Back in the race, but not for the win John and I pushed on, right to RM 814. I dont like mud, and now its right there with rotten milk. We were on the plot trail as the sun set when saw a mess of cars and mud ahead. With only one choice I turned to the left in search of solid ground. We made it about half way.. Only 700-900 feet short. Ill have to credit John as he kept his head and after several hours of back breaking work, in the dark we got it out. I think both of us were amazed it worked as nether of us expected it to work. Your mind does funny things as it watches the sun go down for a second time with no sleep. Only John and I will know how hard we fought to get out section done. It was not my best preformance but I can say I worked my ass off. With almost no air left in the BFG KO2s (our last trick to get out of the mud was to air down) we carried a steady pace for next 60 miles to BFG pit 6. That was the end of our 17 hr stint. Baja Deuce and Kyle Tucker took over and continued the battle. They would fight silt and traffic but brought the car to La Paz for a third place finish. Id like to thank all my teammates for a race I will never forget as well as Wide Open for all the support. Thank you #bfgracing for the opportunity of a lifetime. #ko2
