My Blackberry Q10 device is on the blink. It simply switched - TopicsExpress

My Blackberry Q10 device is on the blink. It simply switched itself off two weeks ago and has refused to power on ever since. I have attempted to get it fixed but each attempt has resulted in exasperated surrender by each hapless technician. A contact who used to work for Blackberry in Nigeria says it is probably the power IC. He stopped short of saying whether or not it can be repaired. Wahala ti won ni yen. Meself I don tire. Maybe it is a divine sign that my long term friendship with the good people of Research in Motion has lasted long enough. I have, over the years, been a completely true and loyal friend. I have used 4 of the Bolds, 1 Storm, 1Torch, 2 curves and the Q10. I have also bought 3 of the Curves for wifey. Now this is where RIM ought to appreciate the height of my loyalty. Putting it mildly, wifey is not a ‘phone person’. Why I keep/kept buying her a BB is totally beyond me. She never bothers to subscribe to the service and I always end up doing it for her many weeks after the last subscription expired. She is on FB (I created the account for her by force by fire) but she never visits. If you have sent her a friend request and she is yet to reply, ma binu. She has not seen it and she probably never will. She has just 2 BBM contacts on her phone, me and a colleague at work. She never reads my ‘pings’ which I stopped sending ages ago anyway. I once cheerfully announced to her that I had successfully set up her email accounts on her phone. She reminded me that almost all phones have that. She also reminded me that she has a workstation at the office and a laptop that goes home with her daily. I said, yes I know. She then inquired of me as to which mail do I think could possibly be so urgent that she would have to read it or reply to it immediately while in church, at the mall, at a party, during school runs or during the drive home from work. My mouth opened in reflex to offer a sensible reply but my brain failed to supply the much needed words. What further point was there in explaining the many other opportunities offered by smart phones and the many available apps out there? The only other use, apart from texting and making calls, which she has for her BB (or any other phone), is the camera with which she has captured thousands of photos of her kids but not a single one of me. Her other phone is a Nokia. One of those obsolete models that slide. Now you get the whole picture. Shio, ara oko Calabar. Anyway jare, if it is any consolation to you guys at RIM, I won’t be starting any friendship with either of your two main rivals who mercilessly squeezed you out of the market. I certainly won’t be boarding the I-Phone zombie train anytime soon. As for Samsung, they have given us S1 to S5 and a thousand Galaxy Notes all within 6 months. At least, so it seems. I am certain S6 will be released within the coming week. Eyes roll. Of course, this paragraph is a product of nothing but bad belle, pure and simple. I confess. I am lustfully eyeing the High Tech Company. They seem to have some sharp looking phones on offer. I can also see the high end Lumnias with the corner of my eye but I really don’t know. But then, it is never over until it is over. I have placed one eye on your Blackberry Passport coming out in September. K’a shi ma wo na. Meanwile, count me out of your Z3 and Z30 (I can’t do without my keyboard). Same thing applies to the BB Classic (Too similar to my Q10). The rumoured Q30 never saw the light of day or did it? I would have considered it because it looked cool at least in concept form. For those who know much about phones, any advice to offer? If you have not yet guessed, the ‘long and short’ of this rambling and unsolicited turenci is that I need a good high-end phone but I don’t have shishi!
