My Daily Bread Saturday Thirty-Second Week in Ordinary Time, Year II. A Reflection by Rev. Fr Festus A. Owakwue, Issele-Uku Diocese. First Reading: 3 John 5:8. Psalm 112:1-6. Gospel: Luke 18:1-8. MY GOD CARES FOR ME We have been reflecting, through out this week, on the gain of being close to Jesus. The leper who came back for thanksgiving received more blessing; the grace to move tree is given to the who have faith in Jesus, no matter how little; the grace of being a faithful steward is given; the Kingdom of God is present; and the life of believers are kept safe. Today, we shall see a further gain for those who are in Christ Jesus. In the Gospel reading, Jesus renders a parable, the Parable of Prayer. He uses it to teach us Gods care and love for us. In the parable, there is an unrighteous judge, who fears neither God nor man. This judge vindicates a widow, though after much persistance or disturbance (praying always). The judge delays before answring the widow. Our God is a good and caring God. He answers us without delay, because He is so close to us. If this unrighteous judge can give justice to a widow, how much more will our loving and caring God give His children who are in need (Psalm 34:15-20). Can the One who formed the ear not hear? ((Psalm 94:9) Praying always will help us to be close to God, because our greatest need is God Himself. With God, we have everything, without God we have and are nothing. Let us always ask God for mercy in our prayer, since the prayer of a righteous man rises up to heaven and it works powerfully (James 5:16). O God, I need you care and justice in my life. Have mercy on me and do not depart or take Your Holy Spirit from me. Jesus, I trust in you. Have a blessed day. Peace be with you.
