My Facebook friend and NFHS classmate Caroline Von Weyher invited - TopicsExpress

My Facebook friend and NFHS classmate Caroline Von Weyher invited me to list my top 10 albums that define my musical essence. So heres my list and Id love to see a list from Rick Fox, Bill Grant, and Frank Murphy. Feel free to keep the game going by re posting and tagging others. Of if you only want to post your list, and not play it forward, please tag me so I see it. Anyone else feel free to jump in also. Without further ado: Wheels of Fire - Cream. Cream turned home on to the great axe men of the 60s and 70s, (Clapton being by favorite) and their US blues men influences. Hotel California - The Eagles. My first gift to Karen when we started dating, plus a darn fine album. Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band - The Beatles. Turned me onto the most innovative rock band ever. Their music is timeless. Born to Run - Bruce Springsteen. Maybe the best live concert I ever attended, even if it was at The Joe. As my son pointed out to me, virtually everyone from Pretzel Logic - Steely Dan. People didnt think they were so cool back then. I love their jazz/rock fusion and saw them in concert last year. They still got it. The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars - David Bowie. Just an excellent album that turned me onto the Glam Rock genre. Shout out to Rick for this one. Looking back I cant believe I turned down offers from Rick and Zig to see him in concert. The Joshua Tree - U2. My first CD and it turned me onto one of the arguably greatest rock bands of all time. Surfer Girl or Little Deuce Coupe - The Beach Boys. The music of my older brother and sisters. Summers in Massachusetts. Their music still conjures up images of a lifestyle that I didnt live but kinda dreamed about. Get Yer Ya-Yas Out - The Rolling Stones. Greatest rock and roll band of all time. Fuzzy Laakso kept insisting this was true and I finally came to believe them. The music of my older, biker bar cousins. I still prefer their earlier, edgier, and honky tonk stuff. Saw the Forty Licks tour and it was a dance party despite the fans age (and the musicians). Dizzy Up the Girl - Goo Goo Dolls. Cuz this album fits so well with the list above. I like the band and they were somewhat instrumental in my starting to attend concerts again starting around 2000. Honorable Mentions - Chicago II - Chicago Transit Authority Passion Fruit - Michael Franks, In Step - Stevie Ray Vaughn
