My Fellow Students, I came to this college in 2013. In that year I represented the views of you, the previous Year 10 Cohort as your Year Level Captain. I diligently ensured your voice was heard, aided the College in any way I could in an effort to further your cause. I was a member of an SRC that achieved a lot, we made contributions to charities such as the Good Friday Appeal, and I thank you for your support through casual clothes days. However, I did notice one thing, a representative council that lacked direction and didn’t canvas the voice of the people. Next year I would like to improve the SRC and the College to incorporate a more student driven approach. If you elect me as your College Captain for 2014, I would like to implement my vision for change, my vision for the future and my vision for you the students. I have developed this 5 Point Plan to overhaul the Student Representative Council, the school environment and ensure you have a say in the future of this College. If elected I ensure that the following points are implemented: 1. Greater Representation of the Student Body: I will ensure that each Year Level Captain, Subject Captain and House Captain, represents the views of the students at each meeting. To ensure the SRC represents the views of the people, monthly surveys will be conducted in conjunction with forums to ensure that your voice is heard and acted upon. The SRC will also utilize social media to allow all at the college the ability to post their ideas and suggestions. We will work together to formulate action plans on how we could make those visions become a reality. 2. Greater Transparency: For you to foster confidence in the SRC and your representatives you need to know what they are doing. A monthly report will posted to inform you of the work the SRC is undertaking. It will highlight the projects, tasks and our plans to make your ideas become a reality. 3. Greater dialogue with the Teachers: To ensure your ideas can become reality, I will maintain constant dialogue with the leading teachers, principal team and if need be the School Council. Ensuring your views are echoed to the highest levels of our school. 4. Greater representation of the College and its values: If I am to become College Captain, it will be duty to represent the college. I will ensure that the college values are demonstrated and the talents of the college are also demonstrated. I will do this by helping out at Parent Teacher Interviews, Open Nights and School Tours for those whom may be joining our college. I would also like to improve our sense of pride we have in the school. By holding sporting events and academic events. 5. Greater Community Engagement: In order to make the school environment a greater place to study and relax community engagement is needed. I will, with the assistance of the SRC, create outreach programs with community organisations and business to fund the ideas of the students and make the college a better place. Such funds will allow us to create better seating and lunchtime facilities. But we will also run fundraisers to give back to those who are less fortunate then us, through charities and like programs. If I am able to achieve all of these great points, we will see a great improvement to Mill Park College Senior Campus. We will see an environment that was created by the students, through their ideas and plans. We will see the students of the college having a greater voice than ever before. We will see a rejuvenated SRC that truly represents the views of its constituents. We will see the views of the people acted upon. We will see a changed culture, where students a proud to attend this great college. We will see a blossoming student body who has achieved so much. But most of all a community that is prepared for the next generation. This will only happen if you Vote 1 Liam Gallagher for College Captain 2015. I will promise you this, I will not rest until I have achieved these points and your voice has been heard. I will leave you with this quote that epitomizes my entire campaign, Leadership is not about the next election, it’s about the next generation.
