My Great-Great-Great Grandfather and Grandmother, John Calhoun - TopicsExpress

My Great-Great-Great Grandfather and Grandmother, John Calhoun Hodge and Mary Ella Truluck. This portrait hangs in my Master Bedroom. John Calhoun Hodge was known as the founder of Sopchoppy, Florida. A member of the board of directors of a railroad company, my Grandfather was the only land surveyor in the area and surveyed and bought the land and laid out and named the streets of Sopchoppy, thus bringing the Georgia, Florida, Alabama Line to the area and founding the city. He built the first house in Sopchoppy in 1891, which still stands today on Rose Street, the main Sopchoppy road running east and west. I am extremely proud that my family founded this remarkable and amazing city and community!
