My Guardian Angel, Part 14 Death is merely a reset - TopicsExpress

My Guardian Angel, Part 14 Death is merely a reset button. The object of the ‘game of life’ is to accomplish a number of individual-selected goals. The problem is that we are all contending with seven billion other people who are trying to accomplish or achieve their own goals, too. Fred looked over my notes and smiled at the fist line. “How do?” “Even though Christianity and Islam deeply frown on and ultimately deny the possibility of past lives—I’m not sure how Judaism feels about it, but I feel certain enough that it doesn’t entertain the concept either—life is pretty pointless—not to mention short—to be worthwhile if this is ‘all there is’ and a ‘one-shot-deal.’ “We’ve had this discussion before.” “But without a conclusion.’ “There’s no proof that past lives or reincarnation exists or is viable.” “I suspect you know the truth; you’re just not telling.” Fred opened his arms wide and shrugged as to award me the point. “If we are but holograms, projections from the edge of the universe, then there must be something ‘out there,’ beyond what we define as reality we must then be plugged into some kind of apparatus that allows our true selves to be projected into a particular timeline or even scenario.” “The Matrix.” “More than that. Besides, that trilogy was more focused on battling a super bad guy controlling reality and virtually everyone in it. “There is no bad guy. Unless it’s the Yahoo that straps us into the apparatus and makes us play the ‘game of life.’” “Yahoo?” Fred repeated. “Robert Lewis Stevenson’s term for monkey-like humanoids as described by the Houyhnhnm.” Fred appeared nonplussed. “Perhaps you come back to the ‘game’ voluntarily,” he suggested. “I’ve thought about that, too,” I admitted. “We must be pretty bored if we keep wanting to play this stupid game.” “Like you and Sims 3.” “Precisely,” I paused. “You have no idea how disturbing that correlation is to me right now. Maybe, we are forced into this game time and time again as punishment.” “Karma,” Fred embellished. “Yes!” “Except, there must be an end-all somewhere,” he persisted. “You mean, like becoming an ‘all-you-can-be’ spirit being by fulfilling lessons-learned brackets in the material world? Once I have filled out all the brackets I can ascend to a higher state of being?” “I suppose it could be something like that.” I laughed mirthlessly. “Something I keep seeing on the Before It’s News website: (changing my voice to sound out-of-this-world) ‘We are the ascended. Soon, your Earth will be transitioning to a different plane of existence. Relax. We are in control. Meditate. Show more love. You will soon become a being of the light’” I laughed again. “Reminds me of that old, old, old sci-fi television show, The Outer Limits: ‘There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling transmission. If we wish to make it louder, we will bring up the volume. If we wish to make it softer, we will tune it to a whisper. We will control the horizontal. We will control the vertical. We can roll the image, make it flutter. We can change the focus to a soft blur or sharpen it to crystal clarity. For the next hour, sit quietly and we will control all that you see and hear. We repeat: there is nothing wrong with your television set. You are about to participate in a great adventure. You are about to experience the awe and mystery which reaches from the inner mind to–The Outer Limits.’ What utter nonsense!” “A lot of people believe in these people who can communicate with space beings, interdimensional beings, and even the dead.” “You believe they’re real?” I asked skeptically. “Doesn’t matter what I believe. What matters is that there are people who do.” “There is no magic ‘deus ex machina’ that is going to do all the work for we poor, suffering, unfortunate human beings. Isn’t this what you are saying: that we humans are lazy and near incapable of accepting responsibility? We cannot be given spiritual enlightenment or higher consciousness or even new bodies of light. It doesn’t work that way. We have to earn them, if such exist. “And, there’s no way a person can become a Buddha in the short space of one lifetime. Even Buddhism acknowledges that Siddhārtha Gautama had lived many lifetimes before attaining his goal of enlightenment.” “So, what goals do you see setting for yourself?” “In my next life, I want to be the ‘prober.’ I’m tired of being the ‘probee.’ I want to be the alien who gets to do the anal probing.” Fred lost it and chuckled for a good while. “Seriously, I believe I’m not supposed to know. I’ve read books on where the newly departed souls are shown all of their mistakes and accomplishments. They review their progress on fulfilling those brackets. After a bit of re-education, they are shown several different lifetimes. During which, they will have the opportunity to finish or complete and even start on new goals. They will then choose a particular lifetime to experience and make the best of it.” “So, God has mapped out your life.” “To a certain extent. The soul playing the life can influence or change the—let’s call it—programming.” “And if the programming is changed, then the goals are not met or accomplished,” Fred observed. “Not necessarily. Sometimes a change is required. And, of course, if the goals are not met, then death comes along, the soul is ‘reset,’ and a new game is prepared to either continue, start over, or a combination of both.” “I admire your imagination,” Fred said as he left the room.
