My LiL SiS Theresa sent me a link to a recent documentary on Yusuf Islam aka Cat Stevens. I remember listening to his music all the time as a teenager. Between him and Pink Floyd I logged a lot of time enjoying their music and the deeper meaning behind their lyrical composition. It wasnt long before my Tea for the Tillerman cassette wore out and I had to get a new one, then two then three. Same went for my Dark Side of the Moon cassette. When I made it on my travels to Katmandu, Nepal one of the first things i did was walk into a record store and ask them if they had this song. They did and I asked if he would play it over the loud speaker for me please? He asked me why and I looked at him and said, Ever since I listened to this song as a kid I wanted to visit here. And now that Im here I want to listen to this song he kinda half smiled and half smirked but played it for me. It was one of those rare moments when you think of a far away land as a kid and say to yourself, one of these days Im going to go there! and then wonder to yourself where the heck this place was in the world anyways? Well I found it and I did it, and I will always remember because I was travelling with a Russian backpacker I had met online at the time and he was wondering also why? Somethings you just cant explain...but you do them anyways! OH YA and then about a week later I was running from a wild rhino. I never thought I would be doing that in my childhood fantasy! You can read about that here:innerouteryou/blog/running-from-rhinos-in-nepal/ #CatStevens #Katmandu #Nepal #TerryHodgkinson #WanderingNinja
