My Mother just called and gave me a great video to watch called - TopicsExpress

My Mother just called and gave me a great video to watch called Old Army Hat. Brought up allot of feelings in me. Some good some not so good. The not so is the sadness I feel that there are so many that have no sense of what so many fought and died for or for what they are still fighting and dying for. I served for a very few years, much shorter than I wouldve liked. Then thanks to my wife signing me up in the Civil Air Patrol I was blessed with 8 years of service. During which I was able to serve all those that I so badly wanted to join. During those years I stood on the shoulders of Giants beside heroes as I was blessed to stand and honor them for many years. I met the son of the man that took the Earth Rise picture. Briefly met Neil Armstrong, met the widow of a Silver Star recipient (that never knew till they placed it on his tomb stone). That is a short list as I worked with some of the finest young men and women in the country inside the Nevada Wings Cadet program. I watch them rise, and I buried one of my cadets. I watch young ones become strong ones and I thank God that I had the chance and honor to know them. The biggest honor however is to be married to one of those Heroes. My wife served and the whole time she was there she was strong enough to never tell me how close the shells got. She came home and faced anger, disrespect, and plain meanness in a 180 degree turn around from the salutes and handshakes she had just year earlier. She faced it all and never said I am sorry, but always said your welcome. She (and so many others like those that never their wife they won the 3rd highest award the military can give) always said, in the face of my anger at them, Their right to say and do that is what I fought for let them rant while they can. To the ones I had the honor to serve after they were gone, to those heroes I met and those I have not. For my Hero my wife, I offer up a song that my mothers video brought back to mind. One my wife played for me many years ago. Thank you for my Flag, My Country, My Home. youtube/watch?v=2kX_3y3u5Uo
