My Mum, Valerie, just sent me this poem se has been wrong over the last 2 days about Bella. We’ve lost our treasured friend today, our loving dog who used to lay her gentle head upon our knee, and shared her silent thoughts with me. To her, Freedom was down on the beach by the sea, with the Gulls, there was often just Bella and me, on the beach she’d run those circles wide, crunch shells, swam and filled me with pride. Bella like the wind went with a whirl, everyone commented what a lovely girl, She ran so Powerful, when free and fast, with other dogs and us she never came last. From Newcastle she came with a beautiful name, and loved to chew things, her initial game, at last when secure, she found her voice, poor postman, we all knew this was her choice. Kind and gentle was her nature, it’s true She never hurt anyone, and was one of the few who loved other animals, barking only at the foxes, our memories will always be real, not confined to boxes. Sadly Bella will come no longer to our call or wait for us to return, by the front door in the hall. A voice far greater than those of our own Has called her to guard his golden throne Although our eyes are filled with tears We thank God for all those happy years For the fun we shared, Bella’s great love and loyalty, Made her so special in our family and community When it’s time for us to die and go with God, we’ll join Bella this much we know. We shall not fear death and the transient dark For Bella will greet us there with her familiar bark. Until then God Bless you Bella ,this much is true, There will never be another dog like you. Down on the beach, and the wind swept shore, At Bishopstone, we’ll remember you forever for sure.
