My PA Amish Grandma, born in the late 1800s, had some very old recipes...two of which Ive searched years for, because she kept her recipes in her head. One was for a steamed pudding she called Pig, made with raisins or cherries, cut into slices and served with milk and sugar. The second was for a really large soft molasses/ginger cookie she called Molassas Cakes or Ginger Cakes. I only remember that she used flour, Molassas, lard, and maybe some cold coffee. They were so good ...dunked in coffee. She also used an egg wash on top, which made the soft cookie shiny. Do they sound familiar to anyone?
