My SEMINAR in Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, 19/8/14, 7 PM ``THE RISE & FALL OF THEORETICAL PHYSICS: From REALITY TO FANTASY Some of the milestones of Theoretical Physics are Newtons Law of Gravitation, Maxwells Equations, Special Theory of Relativity, General Theory of Relativity and Quantum Mechanics. Gravitation apart, these fundamental achievements got duly complimented by theories of weak and strong interactions and which culminated into the ``Standard Model, successfully verified by experiments. In contrast so-called ``Theoretical Physics of past few decades have been dominated by notions of ``Black Hole Information Paradox, Quantum Gravity theories involving extra spatial dimensions, ``Supersymmetry, ``Entropy of Vacuum ``Parallel Universe, ``Cosmic Inflation, ``Multiverse, ``Exotic Dark Matter, ``Dark Energy, ``Holography etc etc. Most of such notions are not based on any compelling observational requirements and neither has there been any direct observational or experimental evidence for them. In fact, Large Hadronic Collier as well as Gamma Ray & Neutrino telescopes have almost ruled out some of the predictions of such notions. Most of these exotic ideas can be traced to the ASSUMPTION of existence of ``Black Holes and ``Big Bang. But, in the past 15 years, series of peer reviewed papers by this speaker (and some American colleagues) have shown that (i) In reality, there is no ``Black Hole, and so-called ``Black Holes are likely to be Ultrahot Balls of Plasma which may nonetheless appear as ``Black Holes (ii) Dark Energy is fictitious, an artifact of describing a lumpy universe by the Big Bang model and (iii) Ideal Big Bang Model is actually a vacuum solution in disguise. With such realizations, Theoretical Physics may return to the realm of physical reality from the land of fantasy.
