My Sticker Story When my duo, Baby Toro was still going, I was - TopicsExpress

My Sticker Story When my duo, Baby Toro was still going, I was always trying to arrange non-traditional shows - shows where people could actually pay attention to our sometimes really quiet songs, shows where we would not have to compete with the teevee etc..and shows that mixed our shit with art or film worked the best. This also gave me a chance to show my pop art DIY print stuff as something more that a messy hobby. The first (and probably the best) show I did was at Heathers place, Sideshow Emporium & Gallery, it was called Rural Gothic and featured work by Lara Branca, Dustyn Lyon, Olay Byel, Rosie and Chucks band the Holy Smokers, myself and a short film by Sam Lyons - it was great! all my favorite people showed up and I actually sold some of my arts! This made me feel good, so I stared arranging for another show- this one was at the The Lost Dog Bar & Lounge with the The Crags and the work I showed this time were portraits of female punk originators, it was called “Heroines; Lost Female Punk Icons”. Bryant Liggett gave me chance to talk on the radio about how important these women were and that experience - just saying the words out loud - helped me to understand that those pieces, those images were more that just a manifestation of my fanboy obsessions. Debbie Harry, Poly Styrene, Ari Up, Siouxse Sioux and Patti Smith were all represented and those works, (prints on the pages of a 1959 book called “Wine of Satan”) were the basis for this sticker collection. Are stickers art? I don’t know - its 6 original images of some of the most fearsome women warriors of our times! on sticky vinyl! for $9! https://etsy/shop/JunkyardBeautyShop
