My Super Mentor “It’s easy to say that you don’t need - TopicsExpress

My Super Mentor “It’s easy to say that you don’t need help, But it’s harder to walk on your own..” She’s a terror, outspoken, and definitely a high-profile person. That’s what they see, but not for me. I know her as a mother who will fight for the right of her children, a bestfriend who will always be there for you no matter what happen, and most of all, a teacher who will impart everything that she knows and everything that she has just to make sure that we are all enlightened. That is her, that is my super mentor. Actually, I do not have my own identity back then, I always go with the flow and I really don’t know what I want. But four years ago, I met this teacher who played a big part in my story. She is a school paper adviser, and I became one of her protégés. That was the start of a life-changing journey which made my existence worthwhile. At first, I only write because it is required, Journalism was not even my kind of dream. All I know is I’m doing this for my welfare. But as time goes by, I realized how much I enjoy being a scribe. One of the reason why is my mentor, she helped me understand that writing is not just a talent, it’s a gift from God that only few can have, and I’m blessed because He chose me to have this one of a kind ability. Now, I see Journalism as the heart of my studies, without it, I’m lifeless. That’s why I thank my mentor a lot for I learned to appreciate the world where pen and paper exist. Stage-fright is one of my sickness. I don’t know, I have a low self-esteem and I hate doing anything in front of many people. I consider it as a lifetime disorder because I thought it’s incurable. But that was only my thought. I never expected that one day, I would love to go to stage performing, that I can hold the microphone without even shaking when I’m speaking. And again, praise to my mentor. Why, I can still remember when she talked to me sincerely, her words made me feel strong. Strong enough to face everyone without nervousness, just pure confidence. I really am indebted to my mentor. Being a student was never been easy for me, I’m just an ordinary individual. I do have my own difficulties. Of course, I also suffered from financial problems, and I think that’s normal. Once more, my mentor is to the rescue. She never wanted to broadcast it to the whole world, but really, she had helped lots of people in her own way without asking for any change. For that, I admire her so much. My mentor occupies a big space in my heart. I will thank her forever because she discovered my talents, she let me shine on my own, she gave me the opportunities, and she showed everyone that I can be the best I can. There comes a saying that ‘a friend who wipes your tears during your failure is better than those thousand hands that clap on your success’. She is the “friend” in the quotation. She saw my ups and downs, she saw me laugh and cry, but she never stopped to guide me. She never gave up on me when I’m losing hope. And most importantly, she believed in me when I actually doubted myself. Exaggerated may it be, but truly, I will lose all the beautiful adjectives in my vocabulary to describe this mentor. She lifted me up, changed my wrong point-of-views, and turned my life into a great metamorphosis. With these valid reasons, she will always be, and will only be, MY SUPERMENTOR! - Maam Anna Zuniga Sawal
